Raw Materials Management
Track inventory for items you buy but do not sell, like packaging and fabric.
The Raw Materials module tracks inventory for items you buy but do not sell. These are the building blocks of your finished goods.
1. Defining Raw Materials
Unlike products, Raw Materials do not sync from Shopify. You manage them entirely within Stratagem.
Creating a Material
- Click Add Raw Material.
- Unit of Measure (UoM): Critical. (e.g., "meters", "pieces", "kg").
- Cost: Enter the Cost Per Unit.
2. Inventory Tracking
Raw Materials have their own reordering logic.
- Minimum Stock: Set a threshold for "Low Stock" alerts.
- Current Stock: Updated via Manufacturing Orders (backflushing) or Cycle Counts.
3. Usage in BOMs
The primary purpose of Raw Materials is to be consumed in Bill of Materials (BOMs).
When you add a Raw Material to a BOM, you define the Quantity per Unit.
💡 Expert Tips
- Standardize UoM: Be consistent (e.g., always use meters).
- Buffer for Waste: Account for production waste in your Minimum Stock levels.
